  • With One UI 7 finally rolling out widely, many Galaxy S24 Ultra owners are voicing their displeasure with the status bar in the new update.
  • There is more blank space in the top corners, which works well for phones with rounded corners but not for phones with sharper corners, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
  • This change also limits the number of icons the status bar can display, much to everyone’s displeasure.

Update, April 30, 2025 (04:44 AM ET): This article initially mentioned that the extra space in the status bar was also present on the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s One UI 7 update. However, it seems Samsung is not applying the changes uniformly across recent Galaxy S Ultra devices.

Reddit user qlstar points out that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s One UI 7 update only marginally increased the empty space at the left and right edges of the status bar, but the change is small enough for most people to ignore. In contrast, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s One UI 7 update brought too much blank space in the status bar, and you can see why users would be annoyed.

Early One UI 7 releases keep coming, with Samsung Galaxy S21 up next https://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s21-one-ui-7-3549098/ https://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s21-one-ui-7-3549098/#respond Tue, 29 Apr 2025 17:25:53 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s21-one-ui-7-3549098/
  • Samsung is currently making One UI 7 updates available across its lineup of eligible Galaxy devices.
  • The Galaxy S21, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3 were all supposed to start getting their updates at some point in May.
  • All these 2021 models have already begun seeing update availability in South Korea, just ahead of international release.

Sometimes, it just takes a little while before you’re able to find your stride. Android 15 debuted last year without a heck of a lot of momentum, and Samsung took its sweet time in even getting its One UI 7 beta program started. Month and months later, when those betas had finished their job and Samsung was ready to get public distribution going, the company had to hit “pause” on its release just days after things got started. Lest you start thinking One UI 7 was cursed, in the days since we’ve seen Samsung’s fortunes quickly reverse, and that’s a trend that’s only continuing now.

While it’s been a bumpy road getting here, now that One UI 7 updates are reliably hitting Galaxy phones and tablets, Samsung’s been speeding up its release schedule. Yesterday we told you about One UI 7 starting to arrive for the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4, all ahead of the planned May release. Now we’re already hearing about updates for the previous generation, also arriving ahead of schedule.

  • Samsung is reportedly working on an AI tool in the Samsung Internet app that summarizes videos.
  • The AI video summarization feature is said to analyze speech, visuals, and captions to generate key points, instead of merely summarizing the visible web page content.
  • While the feature is expected to be generally available with One UI 8, you can already try it out through the Samsung Internet app’s debug settings.

The One UI 7 rollout is finally in full swing for Samsung flagships, and the company has allegedly begun work on One UI 8, too. We’ve already seen leaked One UI 8 builds show off a few key features, and now, a new leak is showing off the brand new video summarization feature coming to Samsung Galaxy devices with One UI 8 through the Samsung Internet app.

Sammyguru discovered that Samsung is working on a new AI Video summarization tool within the Samsung Internet app. This tool seemingly analyses the video, detecting speech, visuals, and captions. It is said to use a multi-modal AI model then to summarize the video’s key points, presenting a list of them to the user.

  • The Galaxy S23 FE, S22, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4 are all starting to receive the One UI 7 update.
  • This update also contains the April security patch.
  • The rollout is starting in South Korea.

Although the One UI 7 rollout has been pretty slow overall, Samsung has been picking up the pace in recent weeks. After rolling out the new OS to the Galaxy S23 and Tab S10 in the US last week, it is now starting to arrive on six more Galaxy models.

Samsung has started rolling out One UI 7 for the Galaxy S23 FE, Z Fold 4 and Flip 4, S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. While One UI 7 is not live yet for these devices in the US, it is now available in South Korea. Since the rollout is happening right now in South Korea, the global launch should happen pretty soon. This rollout comes as a bit of a surprise, as these models were scheduled to receive the update in May.

  • One UI 7 users have spotted minor misalignments in the design of the system icons.
  • Reddit threads show that the Do Not Disturb toggle and battery percentage text appear slightly off-center.
  • It’s unclear if these are accidents or design choices, but they’re hard to unsee.

I’ve never been checked for OCD, but I certainly feel that strong urge for uniformity. I can just about let it slide if my bed isn’t perfectly squared away, but you expect layout harmony from your tech. So, when I saw the minor visual design glitches in One UI 7 that have Redditors up in arms, I couldn’t unsee them.

In one thread, Reddit user EnesG0rkem posted a screenshot of the Do Not Disturb toggle. It’s the first image below, and you notice something straight away about the minus icon inside the button.“Is this just me, or is it not properly centered?” they asked.

  • The One UI 7 update is now rolling out to Galaxy Tab S10 tablets in the US and UK.
  • Expected in May following some rollout delays, the update appears to have arrived ahead of the revised schedule.

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 update has had a stop-start rollout, but it looks like the waiting is finally over for Galaxy Tab S10 owners in the US.

Over on Threads, user abutton117 shared a screenshot showing the One UI 7 update downloading on their Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, confirming the software is now hitting devices stateside. Android Authority contributor Zac Kew-Dennis also confirmed receiving the update on his Tab S10 Plus in the UK, suggesting the rollout is happening more widely.

  • Samsung is reportedly already working on One UI 8.5.
  • The version number suggests it could potentially be the true follow-up to One UI 7.
  • The software could debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung has reportedly started developing One UI 8.5, even though One UI 8 hasn’t been officially announced, and many of us around the world are still waiting for the One UI 7 update. This unexpected leap in versioning suggests Samsung could be preparing a more significant software refresh later in the Android 16 cycle.

  • Samsung has begun rolling out the new One UI 7 update with April security patches for the Galaxy S25 series in the US.
  • The YD9 firmware version introduces support for Now Bar and Live Notifications for media apps, a refreshed charging animation, and a redesigned battery icon.

Samsung’s update situation is in quite a mess right now. Even though the Galaxy S25 series launched with One UI 7 based on Android 15, it was missing some features that got added to later One UI 7 betas for the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung began rolling out a new One UI 7 build for the S25 series last week, which users are saying is the “final and complete” One UI 7 build with several new features. The rollout began with South Korea, and it’s now finally reaching Galaxy S25 users in the US.

The April update for the Galaxy S25 series comes with firmware version ending with “YD9” and includes the April 2025 security patches. This update brings several new features, such as Now Bar and Live Notification support for media player apps, a new charging animation, a new battery icon, and more. X user MatthewReiter05 (via theonecid) received the update on their Galaxy S25 Ultra on Verizon, although the user notes the dismal state of the changelog.

  • The update is now available in South Korea, with no clarity on a global rollout.
  • It weighs around 1GB for beta testers and 5GB for non-beta users.

The One UI 7 rollout is still ongoing and won’t officially wrap up until Samsung pushes the update to all eligible devices globally. In several regions, including the US, the Galaxy S24 series is yet to receive the Android 15-based update. As usual, Samsung is prioritizing its home market, South Korea, for early access, and the Galaxy S23 series is the latest to benefit.

Samsung has done something incredible with One UI 7. Easily Samsung’s biggest Android update in years, One UI 7 has ample new features and a much-needed fresh coat of paint across the board — making it the most enjoyable piece of Samsung software I’ve used in a long, long time.

Simultaneously, Samsung has botched the release of One UI 7 to a degree I didn’t think was possible. It took a mysteriously delayed beta program, followed by months of additional delays and poor communication, before Samsung finally started rolling out One UI 7 to the public on April 10 — six months after Android 15 came to Pixel phones. And just a few days later, Samsung paused the rollout out of the blue.

  • Samsung has restarted the Android 15-based One UI 7 rollout for the Galaxy S24 series.
  • The rollout has begun in South Korea, and if all goes well, we expect wider availability in the coming weeks.
  • However, concerns remain about a lock screen bug that was said to be the reason for stopping the rollout before, which is apparently present in this build too, when it was being beta tested.

After months of anticipation, several rounds of beta, and one failed rollout plan, Samsung is rolling out Android 15-based One UI 7 again, bringing the latest update to users outside the Galaxy S25 series.

The One UI 7 rollout has resumed, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. As spotted by Tarun Vats, Samsung is rolling out a new BYD9 build in its home region of South Korea.

  • A rollout timeline from within the Samsung Members app suggests Samsung will soon resume rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update to devices, with just a couple of flagships getting the update this month.
  • Older Galaxy flagship phones and tablets will apparently get the Android 15 update in May, at the same time when Google is expected to roll out stable Android 16 for its Pixel lineup.
  • Non-flagship Galaxy devices will seemingly receive Android 15 in June, at a time when other Android OEMs will be rolling out their Android 16 update.

It’s been a wild ride for Samsung Galaxy fans trying to get their Android 15 update with One UI 7. Samsung chose to launch the new update with the Galaxy S25 series, extending its beta program all through. Still, months after the phone’s launch, the company has been unable to roll out the stable One UI 7 update to owners of older Galaxy flagships. The stable rollout had begun, but was quickly pulled too. Samsung has remained typically silent throughout most of this ordeal, leaving users scrambling for any and all information. Now, a new rollout timeline is floating around, revealing when different Galaxy devices will receive their One UI 7 stable update.

Reddit user The_TAM spotted a notice in the Samsung Members app that detailed the rollout information for One UI 7. The user is from India, which so far has been part of the early rollout waves for One UI 7, lagging behind South Korea but getting access usually before the US. Following the notice, you can thus expect One UI 7 for your devices a little after the mentioned months.

If you’re a Samsung fan and have been looking forward to the company’s long-awaited One UI 7 update, you’ve probably heard the bad news by now. On Monday, Samsung unexpectedly halted its One UI 7 rollout — just days after it finally started being released to the general public.

On its own, this would be annoying enough. One UI 7 is one of Samsung’s most significant updates in years, offering a truckload of new features and visual refreshes. To have Samsung release an update this big just to delay it less than a week later isn’t a good look.

  • A leaked build of One UI 8 has been spotted for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, following up on the same for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 a few days ago.
  • This One UI 8 build brings small updates, such as Now Brief, log video recording support for more devices, and some more minor UI changes.
  • These smaller additions indicate Samsung is merely rebranding a smaller One UI 7.1 and parading it as One UI 8.

One UI 7 has barely reached Samsung’s older flagships, and we already have One UI 8 leaks. We recently saw leaked images showing off an internal build of the upcoming update on a Galaxy Z Fold 6. Now, another report highlights all the changes expected to come with One UI 8.

Sammobile has gotten their hands on a One UI 8 build for the Galaxy Z Flip 6. According to the report, the changes from One UI 7 to One UI 8 are so small that Samsung has seemingly just disguised the One UI 7.1 update as One UI 8. It is said that Samsung could have released these new features already with One UI 7 but chose not to.

Samsung’s Good Lock app, which allows users to customize One UI the way they want, has long been restricted to the Galaxy Store and certain regions. But that’s all changing as it arrives on the Google Play Store and in more markets.

Samsung first announced its intentions to expand Good Lock’s availability back in January. In an update, the company revealed that the redesigned app was coming to all countries and would be available through the Play Store in addition to the Galaxy Store. A few months later, the app can now be found in the Play Store for users to download.

  • Over the weekend, tipsters spotted that the One UI 7 rollout had been paused after a later-than-expected start last week.
  • Now, Samsung has provided us with a statement saying that the “schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience.”
  • Unfortunately, Samsung’s statement does not clarify why the rollout is being paused, but some sort of bug would be the most obvious explanation.

Typically, Samsung flagships from the past few years would have had the latest version of Android — Android 15 — by the end of the year that the operating system was released. However, Android 15 launched in October 2024, and here we are today with millions of Samsung phones still stuck on Android 14. This has been a very frustrating time for Samsung fans.

Thankfully, the rollout of One UI 7 (based on Android 15) started last week for a handful of flagships in the United States, including the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. However, at some point over the weekend, Samsung appeared to stop the software rollout. A few trusted leakers spotted this, but Samsung remained quiet on the topic.

  • Samsung is still trying to roll out Android 15-based One UI 7 to its devices, but screenshots of Android 16-based One UI 8 have already leaked.
  • The UI in these leaked screenshots looks very similar to the previous OS release, with only minor refreshes seen in apps like Gallery and File Manager.
  • More importantly, however, the Galaxy S25-exclusive “Now Brief” feature could be coming to older models via the new update.

Samsung is having a very rocky One UI 7 rollout. The latest reports suggest that the rollout has been halted worldwide due to bugs. While users keep waiting for the stable Android 15-based update to land on their phone, the rumor mill for Android 16-based One UI 8 is working in full swing. Alleged One UI 8 screenshots have now appeared online, purportedly from a leaked internal build.

Smartprix claims to have obtained images showing One UI 8 in its “early alpha” stage on a Galaxy Z Fold 6 unit. We cannot judge the veracity of these images, so take them with a pinch of salt.

How do you like One UI 7 so far? https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-update-poll-3544108/ https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-update-poll-3544108/#respond Mon, 14 Apr 2025 12:00:15 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-update-poll-3544108/

It’s been a long wait (arguably too long), but for owners of last year’s flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the company’s latest big platform update, the Android 15-based One UI 7, is finally becoming available. After months and months of beta testing, Samsung got the ball rolling on One UI 7 updates one week ago, starting distribution of its new software for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy S24 series. While international markets got first dibs, only a few days later we saw Samsung flip the switch on One UI 7 updates in the US.

That means that some of you have now had at least a full weekend to play with One UI 7 on your Galaxy phone, and start to familiarize yourself with many of Samsung’s changes. Beyond the boatload of Android 15 features you phone now has, Samsung’s done a ton of work implementing its own tweaks and upgrades, and we’ve spent the past several months checking out many of them both in One UI 7 betas and on the Galaxy S25 family.

  • A flaw in Samsung’s One UI 7 lets media from the Secure Folder appear in auto-generated stories.
  • These stories trigger notifications visible outside of Secure Folder, which when clicked, expose hidden photos/videos.
  • Users should disable “Auto create stories” within Secure Folder’s Gallery app settings.

Samsung’s Secure Folder promises to be an encrypted space on your Galaxy smartphone where you can store files, images, and more away from prying eyes. Its whole premise is to keep files private and avoid surfacing them if anyone else uses your device by chance. However, Secure Folder isn’t as secure as Samsung promises it to be. We’ve already found one flaw in Secure Folder that lets anyone see which apps and photos you have stored within. Now, there’s another Secure Folder flaw.

Sammobile found that the Gallery app inside Secure Folder in One UI 7 can make its contents visible outside of Secure Folder through auto-generated stories. Firstly, the Gallery app inside Secure Folder can automatically create stories from your photos and videos, which sends out a notification to your system outside of the Secure Folder. What makes the flaw worse is that tapping on the notification will reveal all its content, even outside the Secure Folder.

  • Some Galaxy S24 owners in Korea reported trouble unlocking their phones after the update.
  • There have also been reports of a major Secure Folder bug and abnormal battery drain.

Update, April 14, 2025 (10:36 AM ET): Samsung has now officially confirmed that the One UI 7 rollout was paused. Unfortunately, it didn’t give any explanation as to why. This is the full statement Android Authority received from a company spokesperson:

The One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.

  • Samsung has finally started rolling out stable One UI 7 update in the US, starting with the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra.
  • We also expect the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 to receive this Android 15-based update in the first wave.
  • The update will be rolled out in a phased manner, so not everyone will receive it today.

It took months of waiting and several rounds of betas, but it’s finally here. Samsung has finally, finally, finally begun rolling out stable One UI 7 to devices outside of the Galaxy S25 series in the US, three days after it began the rollout in South Korea and a good seven months after Google released the Android 15 platform update for the Pixels.

One UI 7 stable rollout has begun in the US with the Galaxy S24 series, with beta users reportedly receiving the stable update on their unlocked devices. Carrier variants should also be part of this rollout, but we haven’t seen reports yet.

  • The latest builds of One UI 7 have added Live Notifications for media apps that display an ongoing notification for playback control.
  • This extends to apps like Spotify, YouTube, and YouTube Music when playing content locally or casting and to apps like Netflix when casting.

The One UI 7 hype is real, as Samsung finally gets around to updating its devices to Android 15, months after the platform update was released and others got on board. As people get their hands on the update, they are spotting features that haven’t been clearly mentioned as part of the official changelog. As it turns out, One UI 7 is implementing a live notification for any app that puts media controls in the notification shade.

My colleague Zac Kew-Denniss spotted that newer One UI 7 builds (i.e., those with the April 2025 security patch) can display a live notification for any app that puts out an ongoing media playback control in the notification shade.

Samsung’s One UI 7 update is finally gaining momentum after a rocky and delayed start. The software debuted in January alongside the Galaxy S25 series, but its rollout across older devices was stalled for several months. Now, Samsung has confirmed that the update is officially rolling out.

Users in South Korea have started receiving the stable One UI 7 update on devices including the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Z Fold Special Edition. • The One UI 7 rollout schedule has been released for Samsung members in Korea.
  • Usually, the Korean rollout goes hand-in-hand with the US rollout, so this schedule should align closely.
  • The most prominent devices should have One UI 7 by the end of May, according to this schedule.

Samsung used to be one of the best companies for quick rollouts of the newest version of Android to all of its most popular Android phones and tablets. With the Android 15 launch, though, Samsung has been pretty slow. Many of its significant phones and tablets are still on One UI 6 (based on Android 14), despite Android 15 launching way back in October and One UI 7 debuting with the Galaxy S25 series in early February.

Thankfully, a person has posted a screenshot to the Samsung Members forum that shows a One UI 7 rollout schedule for the Korean market. Typically, the Korean rollout of a One UI update aligns very closely with the US rollout, so our readers can use this as a soft schedule for now. One thing that almost never happens is Samsung rolling things out in the US before Korea, so you shouldn’t expect updates to happen sooner than this.

Samsung phones have offered a weather widget for ages now, delivering a variety of widget sizes and plenty of information. Now, Samsung has revealed improvements coming to the One UI 7 version of the app.

A Samsung representative on the company’s Korean-language forum outlined a variety of enhancements to the weather widget. • Recent rumors suggest that Samsung plans to release One UI 8 based on Android 16 much earlier than usual.
  • A new report claims that the company’s next-gen foldables could run the new software release at launch.

Rumor has it that Samsung may compensate for the slow rollout of One UI 7 by releasing One UI 8 based on Android 16 much earlier than usual. Last month, an early One UI 8 build was spotted online, suggesting that the company had already started testing the software release for the Galaxy S25 series. Now, a new report claims that it could offer the new software release on its next-gen foldables at launch.

Samsung is expected to lift the covers off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 this summer. The devices could also run One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box, according to insider info obtained by Sammobile.

  • The stable One UI 7 update is scheduled to begin rolling out from April 7, starting with flagship phones.

One UI 7 is the talk of the town for both positive and negative reasons. It’s a great update for Samsung smartphones, but it has been delayed for months now, drawing questions on the efficacy of Samsung’s software update promises. I’ve been using Samsung phones for a long time. In 2012, the Galaxy S2 was my first smartphone, and after a break for Nexus and Pixel phones, I’ve been back with Samsung since the Galaxy S10 Plus in 2019. That means I’ve used every version of One UI so far and delved through every app, settings menu, and Good Lock module over the years. With that experience, I have a checklist of settings and features I enable right away, most recently on my Galaxy S25, and you should use them too.

Samsung loves to pack its phones with more menus than an overbooked restaurant, which can be confusing and daunting to the uninitiated. It’s worth the work, though, as One UI can be the most personalized flavor of Android once you have it set up right.

  • Samsung will start releasing One UI 7 for last year’s Galaxy flagships on April 7.
  • While the company hasn’t talked a lot about its schedule for older devices, Samsung Czechia offers a few hints.
  • It looks like we can expect updates to expand to older generations roughly every week or so.

Samsung’s next big update is very nearly completed for Galaxy phones and tablets, and the company’s fans could not be more ready for it. We’ve been waiting for One UI 7 updates for existing Galaxy hardware since last year, and after months and months of beta testing, it’s finally almost time for the stable public release. Samsung has already shared when it intends to hit “start” on those updates, and we’re now beginning to get a little more information about how availability will progress for different devices.

It all starts happening on April 7, when Samsung has committed to releasing its first One UI 7 updates for existing Galaxy devices. In announcing that date last week, the company confirmed plans for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 to be first in line for updates.

Samsung users are counting down the days until the company’s Android 15-based One UI 7 release is ready to start heading out to existing Galaxy hardware en masse, and we’ve got less than two weeks left to go. Before April 7 gets here (or April 10 if you’re in the US), Samsung still has a few more beta updates to get out to users helping with some early One UI testing. • Last week, Samsung shared an April 7 date for the release of One UI 7 updates for existing hardware.
  • The company revised that to April 10 for the US, before taking its entire US announcement offline.
  • Samsung now appears to have restored that prior announcement, and the April 10 date is back.

For loyal Samsung fans waiting oh-so-patiently for their Android 15-based One UI 7 update to arrive, last week was just an absolute rollercoaster. Samsung started things off strong by sharing its plans for stable One UI 7 updates coming to eligible Galaxy devices beginning April 7. Days later, the first hiccup arrived, as Samsung revised that date for the US market in specific, talking about getting the update ball rolling on April 10, instead. By Friday, however, Samsung had taken its announcement down from its US newsroom, leaving us unsure what to think.

At the time, we reached out to Samsung contacts in an attempt to get an explanation for that confusing move, but did not hear back about anything to clarify why we were seeing what we were. Even as those answers continue to evade us, we’re now wondering if there might not be anything to worry about at all, as Samsung’s One UI 7 press release has been restored and the company is back to highlighting that April 10 date for the update’s US start (via SamMobile).

  • The Galaxy S25 series is getting the March 2025 security update.
  • Older phones in the One UI 7 beta got new features in the March build.
  • The Galaxy S25 lacks these new features despite being on “final” software.

Samsung has had a troubled launch with One UI 7. The beta was delayed several times, and in the last few weeks, the stable release date for the software has been announced and then tweaked based on region. The Galaxy S25 series should, in theory, have been running a final version of One UI 7 since the beginning, seeing as each S25 model ships with One UI 7 pre-installed. Unfortunately, the S25 series has lagged behind beta builds for older models, lacking features and bug fixes, and the latest software update hasn’t addressed this.

Samsung’s One UI 7 release plans somehow just got even more confusing https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-us-date-3537444/ https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-us-date-3537444/#respond Fri, 21 Mar 2025 16:58:46 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-one-ui-7-us-date-3537444/
  • Samsung started the week off by announcing an April 7 date for beginning distribution of One UI 7 updates to Galaxy smartphones.
  • The company soon amended its statement, saying that Galaxy owners in the US would start getting updates on April 10.
  • Now even that correction has been taken down from Samsung’s newsroom, leaving users in the US unsure what to expect.

What in the world is going on with Samsung’s plans for releasing One UI 7? The company’s users have been waiting for their Android 15-based update since last year, and while we’ve slowly seen expanded access to the beta arrive, everyone’s been wondering when One UI 7 would finally be ready for public release. Earlier this week Samsung started setting the stage for that long-overdue event, announcing its intent to begin distributing One UI 7 on April 7. And then everything started falling apart.

Initially, it looked like that April 7 date was the target everywhere, and Samsung would get the One UI 7 ball rolling with releases for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. But a couple days later Samsung started changing its tune a little bit, still beginning distribution on April 7 internationally, but now telling Galaxy users in the US to expect their first updates to land on April 10, instead.

  • One UI 7 introduces a new privacy feature called “Automatic Verification.”
  • This feature allows users to bypass CAPTCHAs, preventing websites from collecting data during the authentication process.
  • Automatic Verification is only available for the Samsung Internet browser.

Arguably, one of the most annoying things you’ll run into on the internet is the CAPTCHA. It forces you to frustratingly identify objects or type in distorted characters to prove to a website that you’re human. However, CAPTCHAs aren’t annoying just because they interrupt your browsing experience; some websites use the authentication process to collect user data for tracking your activities. One UI 7, thankfully, adds a new feature to Samsung’s browser that allows you to skip over these vexing challenges.

Galaxy users who have One UI 7 installed can use a new feature called “Automatic Verification.” As its description reads, this is a “Smart anti-tracking” feature that prevents websites from using data collected during the user authentication process. This means you can avoid those troublesome CAPTCHAs while simultaneously blocking sites from spying on your online activity.

  • Samsung’s Singapore newsroom has confirmed the expanded list of eligible devices for its upcoming One UI 7 update.
  • Older flagships like the Galaxy S22 and S21 series, previous generations of foldables, and select tablets have been added.
  • The company has yet to confirm rollout eligibility for mid-range and budget models.

One UI 7 has been on our minds ever since Android 15 began rolling out in October 2024, but it’s still not on our Galaxy phones. Samsung took its own sweet time in starting the beta program, and only recently did the company announce that the One UI 7 stable update will be coming next month. The company has finally announced an expanded list of devices eligible for the One UI 7 update.

As spotted by Sammyfans, Samsung’s Singapore newsroom has shared details about One UI 7 for its region. In addition to the rollout date, the announcement mentions the devices that will get the update. This list has the usual devices we already know about, but Samsung has sneakily added more devices to the list without sharing a similar update on its Global or US newsrooms. However, we can safely expect all the mentioned devices to get the update globally, albeit with different rollout dates depending on the region.

  • Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 7 stable rollout begins globally on April 7.
  • However, Samsung’s regional press release for the US market additionally notes that One UI 7 stable rollout in the US will begin on April 10.
  • The Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are among the devices set to receive One UI 7 stable in the first wave.

It’s been a wild ride for One UI 7. Samsung had managed to successfully clean its reputation for Android updates with quick turnarounds and consistent security updates across its vast lineup. Then came One UI 7 with Android 15, and we’re back to waiting endlessly for Samsung to release the update or even share some concrete information about it. The company finally confirmed that One UI 7 stable is coming to older flagships from April 7. As it turns out, that’s not the date you will get the update on.

As spotted by Sammyguru, the One UI 7 stable update is coming to global markets on April 7, but users in the US will have to wait a bit. In its US press release, Samsung has announced that the stable update will reach the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the region on April 10, gradually expanding to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

  • Users can sign up for One UI 7 beta through the Samsung Members app.

The wait for One UI 7 has tested the patience of Samsung fans, but it seems like the wait is finally coming to an end. • Samsung’s One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 series has been spotted online, suggesting that internal testing has already begun.
  • The development has started roughly two months earlier than usual, suggesting Samsung might be trying to speed up its update cycle.
  • The early push for One UI 8 comes amid delays in the rollout of the One UI 7 update, which is set to begin in April.

Samsung is known for offering one of the best software update policies among Android phone makers, but the company has recently faced mounting criticism over the speed of its rollouts. The delays surrounding One UI 7, which is based on Android 15, have been particularly frustrating for users. Despite Android 15’s official release last year, Samsung only recently confirmed that its One UI 7 rollout would begin in April — months behind schedule.

However, the company now appears to be taking steps to speed things up. According to a recent post by tipster Tarun Vats on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung has already started internal testing for One UI 8, its next major software update based on Android 16. The first test build has been spotted on Samsung’s servers, marking an earlier-than-usual start to development for the Galaxy S25 series. The leaked build version, S938BXXU1BYC1/S938BOXM1BYC1/S938BXXU1BYC1, suggests that work on One UI 8 is already well underway — roughly two months ahead of Samsung’s usual timeline.

  • Samsung recently released the first One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
  • The update brings a transient taskbar to the flagship foldable that automatically disappears in apps while using gesture navigations.
  • Google introduced the transient taskbar with Android 13 QPR2 and debuted it on the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

Samsung just rolled out the first One UI 7 beta build for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, bringing a ton of new features to the flagship foldable. Although most of the changes are the same as those we’ve seen on the Galaxy S25 series, it appears Samsung has packed a few extras in the latest release.

In addition to a new toggle that lets you bring back the media player to the notification shade, the One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has introduced a feature that Google first rolled out with Android 13 QPR2. As spotted by Jeff Springer on X, Samsung has finally implemented Android’s transient taskbar in the beta release.

  • Samsung moved the media player from the notifications shade to the quick settings panel in One UI 7.
  • Following criticism from users, the company has added an option to add media controls to the notification shade in the latest beta update.
  • This new setting does not remove the media player from the quick settings dropdown.

Samsung’s One UI 7 update brings a host of useful new features, but one particular change has garnered a split response from users. Thankfully, the company appears to be taking user feedback seriously and has introduced a much-needed improvement in the latest beta release.

With One UI 7, Samsung copied Apple’s homework and split its notification shade from the quick settings dropdown. As part of this move, the company also moved media controls from the notification shade and gave them a permanent place in the new quick settings menu. Users who did not revert to the old, unified design raised concerns about this decision, and Samsung seems to be paying attention.

  • The first beta build for the flagship foldable is available for users in the US, and it measures a little over 5GB.
  • We’ve seen reports of Galaxy Z Flip 6 users in South Korea also receiving the update, but it’s not currently available in the US.

Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout has been nothing short of disappointing, but the company seems to be getting around to bringing its latest software update to more phones. After announcing plans to extend the One UI 7 beta to more devices earlier this week, Samsung has finally opened registrations for Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 users.

User reports on Reddit and Samsung’s community forums suggest that One UI 7 beta registrations are now live for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. • The leak provides potential release dates for Galaxy S, Z, and A series devices, with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 first in line for the update.

We’re so starved of official information from Samsung about One UI 7 that we can’t help but look at every leak and rumor with a glimmer of hope. • Third-party launchers sometimes aren’t as smooth as the default launcher, especially regarding animations.
  • The lead developer of the popular Niagara launcher explains that Samsung and Google don’t support third-party access to some functions related to animations.
  • Of course, Samsung wants you to use its launcher and has no incentive to make other launchers work better.

If you’ve ever tried out a third-party launcher on a Samsung phone, you may have noticed that some things don’t work as expected. Certain animations, for example, aren’t as smooth — or sometimes not there at all.

Over on the r/Samsung subreddit, user “Amazing_Emergency_69” was curious about this. Specifically, they wondered why the One UI app launch/close animations don’t work on third-party launchers. They contacted Max Rumpf, the lead developer of the popular Niagara launcher. Rumpf’s explanation is not super surprising, but is still enlightening.

  • Samsung officially concluded the One UI 7 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series last month, but the company released another beta update earlier today.
  • A seemingly official comment on the Samsung Community forums suggests that One UI 7 beta 4 might be the final beta release.

Although Samsung officially closed the One UI 7 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series last month, there’s still no sign of a stable release. Instead, the company recently rolled out another beta build to last year’s flagships, bringing new features, tweaks, and bug fixes. While leaks claim that Samsung may release two more One UI 7 betas before rolling out the stable update, a new seemingly official comment on Samsung’s Community forums claims otherwise.

The comment in question comes from a Samsung Community moderator (via Reddit) who appears to be part of the India Beta Team. They claim that the One UI 7 beta program is now closed and that the “stable update will be released very soon.”

  • Samsung has released the fourth One UI 7 beta to the Galaxy S24 series.
  • This brings many fixes and tweaks, as well as Log video support and an AI Filter feature.
  • The new software doesn’t support Google Wallet, though.

Samsung is taking its sweet time with the One UI 7 beta program, which is no surprise as the software is a major overhaul. We’ve been expecting the fourth beta release for some time now, and the day is finally here.

The Galaxy S24 series is now receiving the fourth One UI 7 beta. More specifically, colleague Zac Kew-Denniss received the update on his Galaxy S24 Ultra. Check out the changelog via the screenshot below.

I didn’t like the Galaxy S25’s split notifications, so I shut them off — here’s how https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s25-split-notifications-guide-3525996/ https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s25-split-notifications-guide-3525996/#respond Tue, 18 Feb 2025 12:00:40 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s25-split-notifications-guide-3525996/

I like a lot of what Samsung has done with Android 15. It’s added several helpful wrinkles to One UI 7, like an alphabetized, vertical-scrolling app drawer, customizable widgets, and a Now Bar that draws out the best of Apple’s Dynamic Island without sitting quite as prominently at the top of the display. However, it’s done something else as part of the One UI 7 refresh — something I can’t stand. Samsung has split its notification shade from its quick settings dropdown, and it’s broken my brain a little bit.

Wait, what’s wrong with that?

Endless One UI 7 delays remind me of the Samsung I used to hate https://www.androidauthority.com/endless-samsung-one-ui-7-delays-3526521/ https://www.androidauthority.com/endless-samsung-one-ui-7-delays-3526521/#respond Sat, 15 Feb 2025 13:30:16 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/endless-samsung-one-ui-7-delays-3526521/

It’s been a taxing few months to be a Samsung fan. From a hardware perspective, things are at a bit of a standstill. Flagships like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy S25 Ultra are technically superb, but they’re extremely safe and minor upgrades from their predecessors.

If that’s the case, Samsung is surely doing more interesting things with software, right? It is! The company introduced a bunch of new Galaxy AI features with the Galaxy S25 series, and its latest One UI 7 update is one of the most significant visual refreshes we’ve seen in years.

  • A new leak suggests that Samsung could release One UI 8 to its devices sooner than anticipated.
  • The Android 16 upgrade might arrive earlier since Google is targeting a Q2 release for its Pixel phones.
  • This could help Samsung save face following the significant delay in its One UI 7 rollout.

Although it’s been four months since Google released the first stable build of Android 15 for its Pixel devices, Samsung has yet to roll out the update to most of its phones. Recent reports suggest that the company may still take a while to release One UI 7 based on Android 15 to the Galaxy S24 series and other devices in its lineup, with the update possibly not arriving until April or even May. This is quite surprising for a company that’s built a reputation for offering timely Android upgrades over the past few years, but Samsung may be able to turn things back around with the subsequent One UI release.

According to leaker Ice Universe, Samsung may be able to save face by releasing the One UI 8 update based on Android 16 to its devices much earlier than anticipated. While it’s too early to say whether the company will be able to pull off this feat following such a massive delay, it is quite possible since Google plans to roll out stable Android 16 sometime in Q2 2025.

Samsung’s One UI 7 delay could be worse than expected, and it might kill One UI 7.1 https://www.androidauthority.com/samsungs-one-ui-7-delay-galaxy-s25-edge-3526435/ https://www.androidauthority.com/samsungs-one-ui-7-delay-galaxy-s25-edge-3526435/#respond Fri, 14 Feb 2025 13:29:53 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/samsungs-one-ui-7-delay-galaxy-s25-edge-3526435/ Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in hand showing One UI 7 home screen

  • Samsung could delay stable One UI 7 updates until the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is expected to launch in April or May.
  • Further, these One UI 7 delays could impact the release of One UI 7.1, which was expected to be released alongside Samsung’s next-generation foldables.

Samsung used to be infamous for delivering super-delayed Android platform updates to its Galaxy smartphones. The OEM managed to completely turn this narrative around over the past few years, going from being the slowest to becoming the fastest and most consistent in delivering updates. However, with One UI 7, Samsung has dropped the ball, as the stable One UI 7 update is still nowhere to be found for its existing device lineup. If the newest leak is to be believed, we’ll be waiting for a very long time.

According to a report by Sammobile citing unnamed sources, Samsung will likely release the stable One UI 7 update to existing/older Galaxy smartphones only when the Galaxy S25 Edge launches. Separate rumors have suggested an April-May timeline for the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, so all Samsung smartphone owners (other than those with the Galaxy S25) may have to wait until then to experience One UI 7 in its stable avatar. Stable One UI 7 is only available on the new Galaxy S25 series.

Tired of One UI 7 betas on your S24? There may be many more on the way https://www.androidauthority.com/one-ui-7-beta-4-date-3526091/ https://www.androidauthority.com/one-ui-7-beta-4-date-3526091/#respond Fri, 14 Feb 2025 11:00:30 +0000 https://www.androidauthority.com/one-ui-7-beta-4-date-3526091/
  • Samsung has yet to release One UI 7 stable for existing Galaxy phones.
  • After three betas, it looked like One UI 7 testing on the Galaxy S24 had concluded, but recent rumors claim Samsung has more left.
  • Now, a new One UI 7 Beta 4 has been spotted getting ready on Samsung test servers, and there could be two more betas to go.

How frustrating must it be right now to be an Android fan who’s running an older Samsung Galaxy phone? Anyone who picked up the Galaxy S25 is in good shape, with the newly launched phone arriving equipped with Samsung One UI 7, based on Android 15. But even though Android 15 hit stable months ago, Samsung has yet to update its older phones and tablets with it. That day is still looming out over the horizon, as it seems Samsung has plans for many more betas before the stable release.

Samsung’s had a One UI 7 beta going for the Galaxy S24 since late last year, and with the beta shutting down in the lead-up to the S25 launch, it sure felt like a public release was imminent. That did not happen.

  • Samsung’s budget Galaxy F06 5G phone comes with One UI 7, which is based on Android 15.
  • Meanwhile, most of Samsung’s lineup still awaits information about their One UI 7 update.
  • Only Galaxy S25 series users can enjoy stable One UI 7 right now, while Galaxy S24 users are on One UI 7 betas.

It’s safe to say that Samsung has dropped the ball on its One UI 7 update. While the update itself is amazing on devices like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series, Samsung’s non-committal to any further details on when the Android 15-based update will arrive on other devices is baffling. Even the flagship Galaxy S24 series is running on betas, while top-tier foldables Galaxy Z Fold 6 are left waiting. Samsung has thankfully added another device to the One UI 7 list, but it’s surprisingly a budget phone.

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy F06 5G in India. It’s the second phone in its lineup to ship with One UI 7, based on Android 15, right out of the box.

  • Samsung has introduced new parental control features in One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series.
  • This includes the ability to block sexually explicit and violent web content in the Samsung Internet app.
  • It also includes a feature to set a maximum rating allowed for apps and games from the Galaxy Store.

By default, Android devices offer unrestricted access to the wide selection of content on the web and on their preinstalled app stores, which can be problematic if they’re left in the hands of unsupervised minors. Parental control apps like Family Link can limit what content is available to minors, but they don’t work with all apps. The Samsung Internet and Galaxy Store apps, for example, aren’t affected by Family Link restrictions. A new feature in One UI 7 will let parents manage what content children can access through the Samsung Internet and Galaxy Store apps, though.

  • The Galaxy S25 has an experimental “suggested replies” feature that uses on-device AI to generate responses to chat and text messages you receive.
  • This feature is provided by the Samsung Keyboard app and is similar to Gboard Smart Reply on Pixel phones.
  • So far, we’ve only observed this feature working with WhatsApp.

When Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S25 series last month, it spent a lot of time highlighting the new AI features available on the three devices. As usual, though, Samsung didn’t have time to talk about every new AI feature on the Galaxy S25. One such new addition is called “suggested replies,” and it uses on-device AI models to come up with potential responses to messages you receive in WhatsApp.

Under Settings > Advanced features > Labs on the Galaxy S25, there’s a new option for suggested replies. According to its description, the feature gives you “AI-powered suggested replies to chat and text messages you receive,” but only if you are using the Samsung Keyboard app. It is not available if you use an alternative Android keyboard.

  • Samsung is rolling out a fresh software update for the Galaxy S24 series in South Korea.
  • Sadly, the update doesn’t upgrade the devices to One UI 7 based on Android 15.
  • It measures around 450MB and brings the Android security patches for February 2025.

Samsung has released a fresh software update for last year’s flagship Galaxy S24 lineup. The update is currently rolling out in the company’s home market of South Korea, and the February 2025 security patches are the only significant change included in the release.

Although it’s been over two weeks since Samsung officially debuted One UI 7 based on Android 15 with the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 users have yet to receive the platform upgrade. Samsung has remained tight-lipped about the release date, so S24 users in South Korea were pleasantly surprised when they received an update notification earlier today. However, to their dismay, the update only brings the latest security patches to the devices.

Samsung One UI is absolutely packed with features, but what if you need even more functionality on your Galaxy phone? Well, that’s where the company’s Good Lock suite of apps comes in. Good Lock apps bring extra settings and features to Samsung phones like the Galaxy S25 series. Need more camera settings and tweaks? Download the Camera Assistant app. Want to fine-tune your audio settings? That’s what Sound Assistant allows you to do.

In saying so, there are a few settings and features found in Good Lock apps that shouldn’t be hidden in a specialty app that only geeks know about and that I’d like to see built into Samsung One UI. Here are my picks.

  • A prominent leaker has claimed that the stable version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series is still far away.
  • Samsung will apparently issue a fourth One UI 7 beta for the phones in the meantime.

Samsung has been running a One UI 7 beta program for months now on the Galaxy S24 series, starting back in December. Unfortunately, you might have to wait a while longer to get your hands on the stable software.

Leaker Ice Universe claimed on Twitter that Samsung will release a fourth One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24 series. They added that the official (ostensibly stable) version of the software was still “a long way off.”

  • The Galaxy S8 has received an unofficial port of One UI 7, thanks to a custom ROM developer.
  • The custom ROM brings features like Circle to Search and Now Bar to the ancient device.
  • Installing a custom ROM is risky and not recommended for most users, as it can potentially damage your phone.

One UI 7 is the latest update to Samsung’s UX skin, but the company has been surprisingly lethargic in rolling out the update to more phones. You can use One UI 7 only on the new Galaxy S25 series and the One UI 7 beta on the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung hasn’t even announced when other phones in its lineup would receive the update. Some users are tired of the wait, and they’ve taken matters into their own hands and installed One UI 7 on the Galaxy S8…wait, what?

Redditor SaidBl1 has shared a video of One UI 7 running on a Galaxy S8, and it looks to be running okay on a phone that was launched seven years ago!

  • Updating to One UI 7 may mess up your home screen layout, as the software supports a smaller selection of grid layouts.
  • While One UI 6 offers 4×5, 4×6, 5×5, and 5×6 grid layouts, One UI 7 only supports 4×6 and 5×6 grids by default.
  • If you want to continue using the 4×5 or 5×5 grid layouts on One UI 7, you’ll have to rely on the Home Up Good Lock module.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 series devices are the first to feature the latest version of the company’s custom Android skin. Based on Android 15, One UI 7 brings several new features, including a Now Bar for the lockscreen that offers useful information at a glance, a vertical app drawer, an improved Quick Settings panel, and more.

One UI 7 also introduces some new home screen settings that aim to help you set up a more optimized layout. However, one of these changes could mess up your current home screen layout when you upgrade from One UI 6.

Many of Samsung’s Good Lock modules haven’t been working properly for those of us using One UI 7, leaving us to wait for our favorites to be updated for the latest version of the operating system. Home Up, the module that lets users customize the home and overview screens, just got updated for One UI 7 with a ton of new features, and I’ve spent the morning diving deep into every sub-menu and setting.

Home Up version 16 is rolling out now to devices running One UI 7, so you’ll need a Galaxy S24 in the beta or a Galaxy S25. I tried sideloading the APK on my Z Fold 4, which runs One UI 6.1.1, but it failed to install. On my S24 Ultra, it didn’t show up for me in the Galaxy Store’s update section. Instead, I had to tap into the module’s info page inside Good Lock, tap Go to store, and then the Update button showed itself.

iOS 16 introduced Live Activities in 2022 as a new form of ongoing rich notifications. Since then, we’ve seen several Android OEM skins also experiment with some form of active and ongoing rich notifications that differ from your standard notifications. Google announced Live Updates for Android 16, but Samsung beat it to the punch with Now Bar on One UI 7 (based on Android 15). • Samsung’s latest flagships feature an improved version of the RAW image editor that debuted with the One UI 6.1.1 update.
  • The updated RAW Image editor includes new menus for adjusting the exposure, contrast, saturation, vigor, color temperature, and noise levels.
  • Samsung has also added a histogram to the editor, which helps users visualize changes in the distribution of light in edited photos.

Although the camera hardware on Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 series isn’t dramatically better than last year’s lineup, the devices offer some handy upgrades that should level up your photography and videography experience. These include 10-bit HDR and LOG video support, a virtual aperture feature in Samsung’s Expert RAW app, and an audio eraser tool to remove unwanted sounds from videos. In addition, Samsung has announced some improvements for One UI‘s RAW image editor, giving users access to more advanced editing tools.

Samsung introduced the RAW image editor with One UI 6.1.1, allowing users to edit RAW images on device. With the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S25 series, the company has revealed that the editor is getting six new editing menus and a histogram.
