As Verizon and the other big three carriers continue to raise prices regularly, many of us are looking for alternative options to save money without sacrificing service or reliability. The good news is that plenty of excellent prepaid carriers operate on Verizon’s network while offering significant savings. Many of these brands are even owned by Verizon itself.

For those that don’t know, I spend the vast majority of my time at Android Authority reviewing carriers, as well as general news and features around them. I’ve used a large percentage of the US carriers, including Verizon and several of its biggest prepaid partners.

Since its launch in 2023, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 () has become a sensation in the world of content creation. As a creator, I see dozens of them at every tech event. We now usually have three or four of them with us when we travel to major events like CES, MWC, and Google I/O.

The only question left is whether you should pick one up or wait for the debut of the Pixel 10 later this year. The answer largely depends on what you’re looking for. The launch of the Google Pixel 6a feels incredibly distant, even though it arrived only three years ago. If you’re in this particular predicament, let me offer some help. Below, I explain why I think there’s a clear best choice for current owners of Google’s older Pixel A model.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE really impressed when it launched last year, flying far closer to its flagship counterparts than it had any right to. Now, the Google Pixel 9a promises to do the same, with many upgrades bringing it closer to the mainline Pixel 9 phones that we all know and love.

So, which one should you buy? Well, we still need to get our hands on the Pixel 9a to perform more rigorous testing, but for me, the choice is clear. Before we get to that, let me explain why you might want to buy each one.

The Google Pixel 9a is now official, offering a respectable — if not groundbreaking — follow-up to the Pixel 8a. Google’s budget flagship faces several competitors, but the recently introduced iPhone 16e is easily the most well-known alternative.

Although I haven’t had hands-on time with either device yet, I wanted to compare them and share my honest opinion on which I think is the better product. Obviously, a lot depends on whether you prefer iOS or Android. But if I were choosing purely based on personal preference, the Pixel 9a would be the clear winner. However, in terms of overall value and long-term potential, the iPhone 16e appears to be the more impressive device.

Gone are the days when mid-range smartphones were blundering, average devices. In 2025, the likes of Samsung and Google have upped the game again with their respective efforts. But which should you buy: the Google Pixel 9a or the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G?

I’ve not used either device yet but have experience with Samsung’s mid-range products and Google’s Pixel series. The two firms’ products are so close on paper that I suggest you wait until reviews are available before making a concrete decision. Nevertheless, I’ve picked a favorite that offers the most bang for the buck.

I’ve made my choice, and it was an easy one. While we haven’t yet conducted a full review of the Pixel 9a, I’m confident in my recommendation based on specifications, pricing, and my personal usage patterns. However, individual preferences will always vary, but I believe most users will find my reasoning compelling.

The Pixel 9a is here, and now it’s time to see how it stacks up against its predecessor. It’s a fantastic phone overall, but if you have the Pixel 8a, should you upgrade to Google’s latest mid-range device?

I personally don’t recommend it, at least for most people. There are exceptions, of course, which I’ll touch on later in this post, but I’d personally stick with the Pixel 8a for a couple of reasons. Just keep in mind that we haven’t tested out the phone yet, although I don’t think my opinion will change after we put the Pixel 9a through its paces.

Of course, it’s always a good idea to wait for our hands-on testing and detailed reviews of the Galaxy S25, but I can’t imagine my preference shifting unless we find something truly worrisome.
